Outdoor Winter Activities the Whole Family Will Love
Looking for ideas on what to do with your family or friends this winter season? We’ve compiled a great list of outside activities in Livingston County, and we’re sure there will be something for everyone!
Visit one of our local Metroparks. Kensington and Huron Meadows Metroparks are great places to visit if you want to spend time outside with family and friends. Enjoy running? There are over 10 miles of well-maintained, dedicated paved paths in Kensington. Want to go sledding or tobogganing? Kensington has great hills and a toboggan shoot if you’re itching for a rush of adrenaline. The parks also have groomed trails for cross-county skiing, and they even have rentals available if you don’t have your own. Snowshoeing and hiking trails are other fun options, along with ice fishing.
Island Lake Recreation Area and Brighton State Recreation Area both offer many outdoor activities as well. Mountain biking and fat biking are popular at both of these state park locations. Some local bike shops even offer rentals or demos if you don’t have a bike of your own.
If you’re looking to take up a new hobby this season, Mt. Brighton is a great place to start. They have skiing and snowboarding lessons for people of all ages, and it’s a great way to create lasting memories (and probably some funny ones too!)
Not into the whole “snow” thing? No problem! Many restaurants in Livingston County have safe dining options, like private igloos, where you can sit down and warm up with a hot drink.
Did we forget any of your favorite winter activities? How do you embrace the colder months in Livingston County and the surrounding areas? We’d love to hear!
